The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in the Black community, and there are countless inspiring stories of young Black entrepreneurs who have achieved amazing success. To recognize their achievements, we’ve compiled a list of the ten promising young Black entrepreneurs you need to know about. 

Jeff Martin - Pipsnacks

Jeff Martin and his family created Pipsnacks, miniature popcorn kernels. They struck a successful $200,000 deal on the reality show Shark Tank, earned national distribution at Whole Foods, and made it to Oprah's Favorite Things list numerous times thanks to their heirloom popcorn. Talk about hitting the big time. 

Dr. Tye Caldwell - ShearShare

Dr. Caldwell, the CEO, and his wife Jaala Haynes-Caldwell founded ShearShare, a Buffalo, New York-based B2B mobile platform that pairs licensed beauty professionals with salon spaces that have yet to be utilized in 900+ cities worldwide.

Marc Lamont Hill - Uncle Bobbie’s

Marc Lamont Hill founded Uncle Bobbie's, a bookstore and coffee shop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to provide a secure setting where those in neglected communities could obtain books. Uncle Bobbie's also offers quality coffee and an outstanding selection of literature. Moreover, he organizes workshops, author events, and weekly story time for kids.

Darren Tenkorang - TRIM-IT

Darren founded TRIM-IT, the pioneering mobile barbershop based in London, which provides customers with quality haircuts delivered directly to their homes. Featuring a unique van outfitted with the latest in barbering technology, TRIM-IT delivers an unparalleled experience.

Diishan Imira - Mayvenn

Diishan wanted salons and stylists to provide their retail products to their clients without buying or experiencing the hassle of holding inventory. Thus, Mayvenna web-based and mobile point-of-sale app located in Oakland.

Travis Montaque - Group Black

Montaque is the founder and CEO of Group Black, a pioneering media collective and accelerator based in New York City. Their mission is to advance Black-owned media properties. This serial entrepreneur is also responsible for founding Holler Studios and Crater.

Jonathan Hayes - RewardStock 

RewardStock was founded and is currently operated by North Carolinian CEO Jonathan Hayes. It is a platform that furnishes travelers with credit card information, allowing them to accumulate, monitor and apply reward points to book trips.

Jerry Nemorin - LendStreet

LendStreet, a financial platform from Oakland, was founded and is managed by its CEO Jerry Nemorin. It provides an avenue to help people regain control of their debt, re-establish creditworthiness, and open up fresh opportunities.
